When you click " Start Virtual Router " it say
" Virtual Router Could Not Be Started "
( In Virtual Router Manager v0.9 )
or
" The Group Or Resource Is Not In The Correct State To Perform The Requested Operating Error "
( In Virtual Router Manager v1,0 )
1. Open Network Sharing and Center.
2. Click Change adapter settings at the left tab.
You window will be like this :
3. Right click Wireless Network Connection 2.
4. Click disable. Then right click again and click enable.
5. Open Virtual Router Manager and Start Virtual Router.

DeleteI found the reason I was having this problem.
The Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter wasn't working.
To make sure it's working do the following:
1) Open an elevated Command Prompt window
2) type:
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow
or
Here's a Hotfix available from Microsoft for a common cause of this problem on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2:

If the hotfix doesn't work, or you aren't using Windows 7 or 2008 R2, then you could try some of the suggestions at the following link:

DeleteThanks for this post. I installed Virtual Router today and I dont see any adapter called "Wireless Network Connection 2".

- Ethernet - Physical Adapter
- Reliance - This is my my wireless modem
- WiFi
- VMware Network Adapter VMnet1
- VMware Network Adapter VMnet8
I keep getting the error message "the group or resource is not in the correct state". And I only see the VMware network adapters in the Virtual Router Shared networks dropdown.
Please help. I am using Windows8 64bit on Dell Studio XPS16

ReplyDeleteGo to Control Panel->Network and sharing center->left click on Local area conection (right side)-> Properties-> Sharing-> Settings-> check all boxes (this is what i did, and it worked)

Does anyone have a method that will work, otherwise I will just give up.
After trying all the other alleged solutions, this finally worked.
Delete1. Go to "Admin Command Prompt"
2. then type the following:
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=VirtualRouter key=123456789 (password)
3. Enter
3. then type :
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
4. Enter
Then connect to internet
