You window will be like this :

3. Right click Wireless Network Connection 2.

4. Click disable. Then right click again and click enable.

5. Open Virtual Router Manager and Start Virtual Router.

Enjoy!

    1. Hey,

I found the reason I was having this problem.
The Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter wasn't working.
To make sure it's working do the following:
      1) Open an elevated Command Prompt window
      2) type:
      netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow

      or
Here's a Hotfix available from Microsoft for a common cause of this problem on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2:
      http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2496820

If the hotfix doesn't work, or you aren't using Windows 7 or 2008 R2, then you could try some of the suggestions at the following link:

  2. Thanks for this post. I installed Virtual Router today and I dont see any adapter called "Wireless Network Connection 2".
    I have the following.
    - Ethernet - Physical Adapter
    - Reliance - This is my my wireless modem
    - WiFi
    - VMware Network Adapter VMnet1
    - VMware Network Adapter VMnet8

I keep getting the error message "the group or resource is not in the correct state". And I only see the VMware network adapters in the Virtual Router Shared networks dropdown.

Please help. I am using Windows8 64bit on Dell Studio XPS16
